What is the story behind Pleiades Adventure Park?

I’m a military kid who’s moved many times and found a home here in delightful North Carolina. I have an active brain, and love going on little adventures to see new sides of the places I live and try things in a self-guided way. I am also an animal lover and like to bring my dog along on adventures, and always feel so much better and refreshed after spending time outside. I also love inviting friends and family along and trying out new activities.

It seems like most everywhere I’ve lived that felt is a desire for more community and activity areas with diverse activities. I wanted to see a place come to life where people could spend time outside in an unconstructed, creative way that didn’t require much expense or setup.

Thus, the idea of Pleiades Adventure Park was born. If I thought of an activity I wanted to do or a concept I wanted to incorporate, I added it to the roster. The idea grew and grew until I realized, this is totally, definitely something I wanted to do. When I started sharing the idea with others, everyone I have talked to seemed as excited (or more) by the idea as I was!

So, Pleiades Adventure Park will hopefully be a fun, amazing place to get outside and play, and meet whatever goals you have – whether that’s to spend a few quiet moments by yourself, or have a few hours outside with your family playing.

Why the name Pleiades Adventure Park?

The Pleiades has always been my favorite constellation. Not only is it elusive and best seen when you’re not looking directly at it (which I think is a neat paradox!) it’s also easy to find. Also, as a sister, when I learned they were they were called the 7 Sisters, I thought that was cool.
I was contemplating the Adventure Park one day, and the name idea popped into my head. As I mulled it over, I decided to go for it as there were 7 kinds of activities available and 7 stars! Pleiades Adventure Park – A Constellation of Adventurous Activities

What’s the next step?

After I’ve received input, I’ll be collating and incorporating the feedback I receive, and creating an inclusive rough plan from all the ideas.

Then, I’ll be looking into expert and professional opinions from architects, land surveyors, designers and such to help see how to make all the dreams come about.

Hopefully, after this, fundraising and building will make the park a reality!

Why crowdfunding?

I believe in this idea! It is something that has been close to my heart for a long time.

Awesomely, it seems to be an idea that is appealing to many others. However, starting the business from scratch as an individual wanting to make sure that creative input remains in the hands of the community using the park means that it is hard to secure a loan that would get the park off to a good start.

With the key elements of the park paid for by crowdfunding & pre-sale tickets, it means that the community’s belief in the park will be tangible and prove validity of the concept. In addition, by crowdfunding the park from the beginning, we can solicit input on various ideas from those who show interest early on.
